Something we have observed since commencing work on BoKlok on the Brook in Bristol, is the large number of people who opt to travel around the city by bike – which is great! It’s not surprising to learn that Bristol is known as the UK’s first ‘Cycling City’ – with cycle routes on almost every major road and lots of places for people to leave their bikes safely too.
We have come across a few great websites, that we thought might help you to plan your route, should you be looking to travel around the city by bike – but we’d love to hear your suggestions too!
Better by Bike is a great cycling website, which covers a big part of the West Country. They have a dedicated website where you can access regional cycle maps and routes, as well as information on bike hire/repairs and lots more. They also have a Facebook page (@betterbybikeUK) where they post up useful updates on road closures, new routes and relevant news.
Sustrans is Britain's leading sustainable transport charity and their website has detailed maps of the National Cycle Network in and around Bristol, including some of the most well-loved routes, such as the Festival Way, Bristol and Bath Railway Path and The Strawberry Line.
Bristol City Council also have some great resources on their website too – with information on the bike loan scheme, route planning and local cycling events.
We will be including lots of bike storage within our development, so we’d love to be able to share with our new residents some tips and advice on great cycle routes, popular cyclist cafes as well as local bike shops and initiatives. If you have any suggestions, please drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org
