Getting to know Bristol

Updated: Feb 16, 2021

Bristol is a great city. Home to our first ever UK development, we have been enjoying getting to know the area and its heritage. In 2017, Bristol was named the best place to live in the UK, while in 2019 the city was named the happiest place to live in the country – and we can see why.

There is no denying that the shopping here is impressive, along with the culture, the nightlife and the huge choice of bars, cafes and restaurants on offer. However, with current times in mind, it’s also been great to see just how many green open spaces there are here too.

The city is surrounded by countryside from the Cotswolds to rural Somerset but there are also a great selection of parks and gardens within the city. From the Castle Park, which offers some lovely views by the water, to The Downs with their expansive parkland, there is plenty of opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy the scenery. We also have to give a mention to the world famous Clifton Suspension Bridge, with its views across the River Avon - spectacular.

In fact, if you are looking for some ideas of where to explore, then Visit Bristol has some great articles on places to explore:

When our future homeowners move into their new homes at BoKlok on the Brook, we will be providing each of them with a homeowners manual, which has lots of useful information about their new home, as well as the local area. We have been enjoying learning lots about the city, but we’d really like to get some input from the local community.

If you have a favourite place to visit – perhaps a hidden gem or a beautiful cycle route that you’d be happy to share, please drop us a line either via our Facebook page, or via email at (with the subject heading ‘local knowledge’) – we’d love to hear from you.
