Going green at home

If you have got to know BoKlok a little and you have been following our journey, you will probably have realised by now that we are a company committed to sustainability. In fact, we have set ourselves a goal that by 2030 we will have a completely climate neutral value chain, all the way from the trees in the forest, which we use to build our homes, to delivering our finished homes on site. (You can read a bit more about this on our new website here.)

However, we don’t stop there! All of our homes are not only designed to reduce energy use, but to be environmentally friendly and to save our future homeowners money at the same time. Features such as enhanced insulation, the highest efficiency rated boilers and water saving taps/showers/toilets are included as standard. We also offer our purchasers additional tips and advice, on how they can live more sustainably, once they have moved in to one of our homes.

If you’d like to take a look, you can access these tips on our website here.

In a recent article in the Metro, we saw some other great tips for going green at home. Some are more relevant to those who are about to commence a renovation project, opposed to those moving into a sustainable new home, but there were still some really good suggestions for places to go for ideas and advice, these included: – an independent organisation, committed to tackling the climate emergency. It offers homeowners advice on reducing their carbon footprint and reducing their energy bills. – this website offers a host of advice on how to make your outside space more green, bee and bird friendly. – a plastic-free online shop offering everything from bamboo dishcloths to re-usable bottles and dish washing soap bars.

If you have any of your own tips about being more sustainable at home, we’d love to hear them. Please add to the comments, get in touch via our Facebook page, or drop us an email at
